Once more into the breach dear fiends
So I was never one for blogging, since I’m usually at my best when I can play off of someone. Lately, though, I’ve found myself with some extra time to kill and absolutely NOTHING to do with it, since this time is spent trapped somewhere that I cannot leave and do something constructive.
So with that, I decided to just randomly post bullshit that I come up with just for the hell of it. If you’re reading this, then you’re most likely just as bored as I am, apparently. Please keep in mind that what I’ll end up posting here will be often highly opinionated, frequently offensive, and intensely pedantic. I doubt much on this site will wow anyone, or give them incredible insight into their lives or the world around them. After all, it’s just meant to waste time. So without further adieu, let get on with the show.

I guess my biggest gripe with people at the moment is how reliant I have to be on some people. I spend much of my day bored to fucking tears because I simply don’t have enough work to do. This isn’t the first time I’ve been in this position either, many places I’ve worked have seen me bored to tears at my desk hoping a project will come along for me to delve into. My latest foray has put me at a place where they have obviously had morons working before me. My learning has been paced because those before me have had difficulty grasping the processes and concepts. For me, this stuff is a joke. This isn’t exactly because I’m vastly superior or highly intelligent, it’s because it’s retardedly easy. Then, after showing that I’ve obviously grasped this stuff and am ready to move on, I’m told that they’d like it to “sink in” more.
So when exactly did training become so horrible. This is the third job in a row where training has been an absolute clusterfuck. Granted, some were worse than others, but it just seems that companies make a big deal about you being qualified and capable when they’re interviewing you, but when they get you in the door they treat you like a moron. I remember when I’d start a new job, go through a few weeks of crazy training and shit, with no free time to myself during the day. Now I literally have to go to my boss and beg him for something to do, only to be told that nobody is available.
Wouldn’t it make sense to get the training out of the way when someone is first hired? This way, you wouldn’t have to worry about what that person knows and doesn’t know, or what he/she has been trained on. Train them on their position in full and take the hit when they’re hired, this way that person can be somewhat self reliant and at least know what they’re weak on and can focus on that. It would also help when an issue arises that said person will need to handle, and they haven’t been trained on it. Now you lose a potentially productive member of your team because you couldn’t manage your people and their time better. I’m sure there are courses on this stuff, they should be mandatory for anyone who has people working under them.
So instead of a fully trained employee who may ask a quick question about procedure and such here or there, you end up with someone who has to ask about most things, isn’t responsible for anything, and isn’t a full member of the team, in my opinion. If someone still hasn’t had most of their training by 3-5 months in, then you’re wasting their time and your budget.
If I sound angry about this, it’s because I am. I HATE not having something to do. I’m not the kind of person who can just sit at his desk and fuck off on the internet all day….ok, well technically I CAN do that, but I’d much rather not. I want to be doing something constructive, I want to be challenged, I want that feeling of accomplishment you get at the end of a hard day at work. One where you know you’ve busted your ass and you got shit done. I’m pretty sure that isn’t a bad thing, and it’s sad that it seems it’s too much to ask sometimes…
